The Arc Mid-Hudson’s employment services help people with developmental and intellectual disabilities build skills, explore career goals, and prepare for success in the workplace. Through school-to-work experiences, pre-vocational support, and supported employment services, individuals receive personalized guidance, training, and coaching that promote confidence, independence, and meaningful opportunities in their communities.
The Enrich program is designed for high school students with IEPS/504 plans and/or who are affected by a learning or other developmental disabilities. The program serves 13 area school districts and BOCES to provide students the ability to gain work experience, make connections to their community and learn important life skills in a supported, nurturing environment. Enrich has become a necessary support for transition planning for students, parents, schools and families.
Schools that enroll students receive support to meet State Education CDOS standards and documentation of Work Based Learning hours. Access VR sponsored pre‐employment services are individualized and can be offered in your school district or your community. Students who attend Enrich will engage in a variety of work and volunteer experiences in the community. Students will gain work skills and social skills that are crucial for future employment. Families are encouraged to be involved in the program through regular communication, support meetings and opportunities to attend training on services available to them.
Our employment disability services & programs serves a variety of individuals who need assistance with job placement and help to meet your career goal. If you have a disability or were referred to us through ACESS-VR, we can help you find a career that will utilize your skills and satisfy your needs.
Many individuals with college degrees or professional work experience use our employment services to discover a new profession or further their existing one. If you do not have a degree or experience, we will provide job training for people with autism and then assist you with developing specific employment goals, working with you to secure a job and provide assistance in meeting your work requirements, when needed.
You will receive resume critiques and letter writing assistance, guidance on your interview skills and recommendations on how to conduct your job search. Our staff will provide expert consulting on the nuances of employment, support on-the-job progress and job skill training program for developmental disabilities.
The Community Pre-Vocational Program is a person-centered, community-based service that provides planning and support to help individuals identify, obtain, and maintain a career or vocational plan. The individual has to have vocational aspirations and meet the eligibility requirements in the area of vocational capabilities.
The individual will be screened for: career goal objectives, past work experiences, personal skill set, and their ambitions for the world of competitive work with the support of a Community Pre-Vocational Specialist. Community Pre-Vocational Specialists will train individuals in the areas of travel training, job shadowing, interviewing skills, following directives, utilizing appropriate social skills, work routine/attitude, multi-tasking, and more.
