March 15, 2020

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic we have received notification from OPWDD and Arc NY for specific requirements for Intermediate Care Facilities, Residential, Day Habilitation and Clinic Appointments (Mid-Hudson Health Specialties).

Intermediate Care Facilities and Residential:

Effective immediately all visitations to our ICF’s and residential houses are prohibited until further notice. There is an exception to this ban regarding people we support that are on Hospice.

All staff are required to be screened when reporting to work. Immediately upon arrival all staff will be asked the following three questions:

  1. Have you traveled to a country for which the CDC has issued a Level 2 or 3 travel designation within the last 14 days?;
  2. To your knowledge, have you had contact with any Persons Under Investigation (PUI’s) for COVID-19 within the last 14 days, OR with anyone with known COVID-19?; and
  3. Do you have any symptoms of a respiratory infection (e.g., cough, sore throat, fever, or shortness of breath)?

Additionally, as per OPWDD requirements, staff working in the ICF, will also have their temperature taken.

We will be looking for opportunities for communication with families via phone call or FaceTime during this time.

Day Habilitation Programs and Clinic Appointments

Effective immediately, The Arc Mid-Hudson will be closing all Day hab programs and Mid-Hudson Health Specialties clinics in Greene, Putnam and Ulster Counties until further notice.

On Sunday, March 15th all families were notified of the day hab closure and also that transportation has been canceled. Mid-Hudson Health Specialties will be calling to cancel current appointments and to reschedule at another date.

Day hab services will be provided in residences operated by The Arc Mid-Hudson by our current day hab staff.

We will continue to monitor the situation and keep staff and families informed as more information becomes available.

Thank You,

John McHugh

Executive Director, The Arc Mid-Hudson
